Hey Neighbors,
The temperatures have officially dropped into winter territory. I saw a funny video online with an active blizzard and a voiceover commentary that croaked, " If the temperature is lower than my age, don't invite me." π
β
I can seriously relate, but I'm not that bad-yet! Although the way the forcast is looking we might all be hibernating this weekend. βοΈ.

β MOTW Coffee and Pastries
π 5202 McGinnis Ferry Rd, Alpharetta, GA 30005

The menu leans thoughtful rather than flashy, the pastries do their job without stealing the show, and the overall vibe says: stay as long as you like. Perfect for a slow morning, a low-stakes meeting, or a reset between errands.

If your usual coffee stop feels a little too loud lately, this oneβs worth the detour.

βοΈ Snow Day Fantasy: Vail Edition
π Vail Price cut 29.5M (Not a typo)
While weβre bracing for ice scrapers and power-outage candles, this ski chalet is over here doing what winter should look like. Think stone fireplaces, layered textures, and windows designed specifically for watching snow fall with a drink in hand. Itβs the kind of place that makes you momentarily forgive winterβand seriously question your ZIP code.
β
The takeaway: when the weather turns dramatic, cozy architecture always wins. Exposed beams, deep sofas, warm wood, and lighting that understands mood are doing the heavy lifting here. Bookmark for inspiration, daydream responsibly, and maybe light that extra candle this weekend.

PS: If your cozy lineup is looking a little thin, I linked a few of my go-to lamps, throws, and candles below β nothing precious, just the stuff that actually gets used on winter days.

βοΈ Storm-Ready, But Make It Cozy
If the forecast is whispering snow / ice / donβt go anywhere, this is your cue to lean into comfortβnot panic.
A few easy moves that make your home feel instantly warmer (no reno required):
- Layer your lighting. Turn off overheads and switch to lamps only after dark. Even better if one has a warm bulb and a shade that softens the glow.
- Pull the throws out of hiding. One on the sofa, one on the chair, one casually folded where it looks intentional. Texture > perfection.
- Group candles instead of scattering them. Three or five together on a tray reads cozy, not βemergency kit.β
- Close the curtains early. It keeps heat in and makes the house feel cocooned once the sun goes down.
- Set the vibe before the storm hits. Music on, soup simmering, phone charged. Cozy is a mindset.
This weekend isnβt about productivity. Itβs about staying warm and pretending youβre snowed in somewhere much more scenic.
β
β
Hello! π
β
New to town?
You should know Atlantans can not drive in inclement weather. One inch of snow shuts the city down for a week. Which is so curious to me because many of us are from the northeast or midwest or someplace with family members that laugh their silly heads off at us when the news shows the highways with abandoned cars for as far as the eye can see.
β
Maybe we have just forgotten and our blood has gotten 'thin'. This weekend is suppose to be more like ice, brutal and dangerous no matter where you hail from.
Stay safe and warm out there.

ποΈ Winter Cabin, No Check-In Required
If you have access to a cabinβnorth Georgia, lake-adjacent, family-owned, or βwe really should use this moreββthis is the weekend for it.
β
With snow or ice in the forecast, the smartest escape isnβt a long drive or a packed itinerary. Itβs heading somewhere familiar, stocked, and built for slow mornings and fireplace evenings. Arrive before dark, cook something simple, and let the weather be the entertainment.
β
And if your cabin happens to be near Dahlonega, even betterβbut the real luxury this weekend is knowing exactly where everything is.
β
No cabin? A staycation still counts. Turn the lights low, cancel plans, and let winter do its thing.
