Alpharetta, Milton, Johns Creek & Roswell Events: Feb 18 – Feb 25

Hey Neighbors,
Hope you had an enjoyable Valentine's. We are smack dab in the middle of Black History month events still going strong. RIP to activist, Rev. Jesse Jackson who passed away yesterday.πŸ™πŸΎ The Lunar New Year, rolled in on blazing flames with the Year of the Fire Horse. I need to look up its meaning but the imagery is a shift in energy for sure.

There is lots going on, let's get into it.

Hello! πŸ‘‹

If you’re newer to Alpharetta (or you’ve been here awhile but want to understand the town beyond the usual highlights), the Bailey-Johnson School & Community Exhibit is worth your time. On view at the Community Gallery inside Alpharetta City Hall, this historical photography exhibit tells the story of the Bailey-Johnson School β€” the only high school for Black students in the area during the 1950s and 60s.

Through archival images and community history, the exhibit offers a grounded look at local Black education, family life, and the networks that supported students across North Fulton County. It’s a meaningful reminder that Alpharetta’s story didn’t start with mixed-use developments β€” it was built by people, neighborhoods, and shared perseverance.

The City of Alpharetta and the Old Milton County Historical Society are hosting a screening of the documentary in two locations:

  • Parking: expect paid parking ~ $25–$40/day (PCM rates vary)
What: If you want a staycation that feels like you left townβ€”without leaving your car in the driveway for 48 hoursβ€”Scout Living is your cheat code. It’s inside Ponce City Market, so your weekend plan is basically: walk everywhere, eat everything, and pretend you’re an β€œAtlanta person.”

What the accommodations are like:
Named 13 best hotels in Atlanta by Conde Nast Traveler
Apartment-style suites that behave like a hotel (aka: you get space and convenience). Expect:

  • Full kitchen (real fridge, stovetop, dishwasher)
  • In-unit washer/dryer (for the β€œwhy did I pack only sweaters?” moment)
  • Modern, clean, city-cool interiors (more β€œgrown-up getaway” than β€œrom-com motel”)
  • Building perks usually include rooftop pool + lounge-y common areas (and the kind of skyline views that make you text your group chat unprovoked)
    Weekend itinerary:
Check in Friday, do a PCM Food Hall dinner crawl, then take a BeltLine stroll and call it β€œwellness.” Saturday is slow coffee + shopping inside PCM + an afternoon/evening at The Roof for skyline views and games; Sunday, grab brunch and take one last BeltLine walk before checkout.
